Alcohol cited in fatal crash

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a fatal collision near Perry was caused by alcohol consumption. The driver, 28-year-old Boyd Sumpter, was impaired when he lost control of his 2004 Jeep Wrangler. As a result, both Sumpter and another passenger were thrown from the vehicle, with the Jeep flipping and pinning Sumpter under a tire. Tragically, Sumpter was pronounced dead at the scene, while the ejected 24-year-old passenger suffered a broken leg. A third passenger, a 22-year-old woman, is expected to recover. Additionally, it was noted that neither Sumpter nor the 22-year-old woman were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, while the 24-year-old woman was properly restrained. The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. on County Road 150, approximately 5 miles southeast of Perry.
