Albuquerque police investigating 2 fatal crashes

Two people died as a result of crashes that happened just before midnight Friday and just after, with both under investigation by the Albuquerque Police Department's fatal crash unit.Officers went to the scene of a crash just before midnight at Coors Boulevard NW and Sequoia Road NW, where a Nissan Juke and a Volkswagon traveling south on Coors collided and lost control. Both vehicles crossed the median into northbound traffic, where the Nissan began to roll. The driver was ejected from the Nissan and died at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagon had only minor injuries, an APD news release said.Then, just after midnight, a motorcycle going south on 12th Street NW hit a roundabout at the intersection with Menaul Boulevard NW and lost control. The motorcyclist was thrown and died at the scene. The investigation hasn't yet determined whether impairment or speed may have caused the crash, the release said.
