This incident took place years after his wife, Gail, was found dead in a similar car crash back in 2011 in Tennessee. Matthew Palmgren, who had lived in Signal Mountain, Tennessee with his wife and children, died in the recent accident as he was not wearing a seatbelt, similar to his late wife's situation. While never charged or suspected in his wife's disappearance, Palmgren had faced scrutiny due to previous domestic incidents at their home.
