Affidavit names 3 S. Florida victims in crash on FL Turnpike with undocumented truck driver

Arrest affidavits have revealed new information regarding a tragic semi crash on Florida's Turnpike in St. Lucie County that resulted in the deaths of three South Florida residents earlier this month. The incident, which involved a semi driver from India who entered the U.S. illegally from Mexico in 2018, has drawn national attention. According to a probable cause affidavit, the victims were identified as 30-year-old Herby Dufresne from Florida City, the driver of the minivan, 54-year-old Rodrigue Dor from Miami, and 37-year-old Faniola Joseph from Pompano Beach. When troopers arrived at the scene, they found the semi blocking all northbound lanes of the Turnpike and the minivan wedged under it. There was no evidence of braking or evasive maneuvers before the collision. Despite efforts to rescue the victims, Dufresne passed away at the hospital, while Dor and Joseph were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi, Harjinder Singh, declined to be interviewed without his attorney present. Singh, who had entered the U.S. illegally, has since been arrested and is facing multiple charges related to the crash. White Hawk Carriers, Singh's employer, confirmed that both Singh and his passenger were terminated after the incident. Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins flew to California to bring Singh back to Florida, where he is currently being held without bond.
