Additional charges for suspect in fatal Ybor city crash that claimed 4 lives
The Florida Highway Patrol has brought forward six additional charges against Silas Sampson, who is accused of crashing his vehicle into a crowd in Ybor City, resulting in the deaths of four people. These new second-degree charges include three counts of fleeing to elude and three counts of reckless driving. Sampson, 22, had already been facing multiple charges, such as four counts of vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated fleeing to elude causing bodily injury or death. He appeared in court for these new charges and his hearing is set for Thursday at 9:30 a.m. to determine if he will receive bond. The tragic incident occurred when Sampson allegedly crashed his vehicle into a group outside Bradley's on 7th, leading to the deaths of Christina Richards, Lisa Johnson, Sherman Jones, and Marlon Collins. The community was deeply impacted by this event, and a vigil was held to honor the victims. Authorities continue to investigate the case, with the Hillsborough State Attorney's Office seeking to keep Sampson in custody, citing him as a danger to the community.
