Accused DUI driver in Denver causes 3-car crash with injuries on I-25.
Two individuals had to be taken to the hospital following a three-car accident on Interstate 25 near Denver early Sunday morning. The incident was allegedly caused by a drunk driver traveling in the wrong direction. A police officer's patrol car was also hit during the response but fortunately, no one, including the officer, required hospitalization. The events unfolded at around 2 a.m. when Greenwood Village police and Colorado State Patrol were called to a collision on I-25 near Orchard Road. A driver suspected of being under the influence was traveling north in the southbound lanes, resulting in two vehicles being struck. Subsequently, an additional accident occurred when another unrelated driver crashed into a police car while traffic control was being carried out at the initial crash site. The police officer involved in the second collision was assessed by paramedics at the scene and subsequently released. The southbound lanes of I-25 were closed for a significant period following the incidents but have since been reopened. Both accidents are currently under investigation, and further details, including the condition of those injured and any potential charges, are not yet available.
