Accident on I-270 due to driver going in wrong direction leads to lane closures for hours
A crash on I-270 near Clarksburg Road in Montgomery County resulted in a closure lasting hours on Friday. The driver involved has been taken into custody, yet the investigation involving multiple counties is ongoing. Montgomery County Police Department received reports of a driver traveling the wrong way on I-270 around 4:17 p.m. The situation began in Frederick, with Maryland State Police and Frederick Police in pursuit until the driver entered Montgomery County. There, MCPD officers tried to stop the vehicle, which eventually collided with another car. Subsequently, the driver exited the vehicle with a child, standing in the road with the child before being taken into custody after an attempt to de-escalate the situation. There may be injuries from the crash, although details are not yet provided. Fortunately, the child involved was unharmed. The suspect's identity and potential charges remain undisclosed. Thankfully, all lanes of I-270 have since reopened.
