9 individuals taken to hospital following collision on I-15 Freeway in San Bernardino County

A collision involving two vehicles occurred on the I-15 Freeway in San Bernardino County, resulting in the hospitalization of nine individuals on Sunday morning. The incident took place in the southbound lanes north of Baker, as confirmed by San Bernardino County Fire officials. Although details about how the vehicles collided were not disclosed, images shared on X depict two significantly damaged cars located off the side of the freeway. One vehicle, a black sedan, shows extensive damage to the front-end, while the other car, potentially a silver or gray Prius, appears covered in dirt with damage to the front and top, as well as a crushed roof and windshield. The photos did not capture the rear of either vehicle. According to the fire department, emergency responders were called to the scene to deal with the aftermath of the crash, resulting in the transportation of nine patients to nearby hospitals, four of whom were airlifted. While no fires or extrications were necessary, all nine adults required medical attention and transportation due to injuries ranging from moderate to severe. The identities and conditions of the patients were not disclosed. The department dispatched four ground ambulances and three medical helicopters to assist, resulting in temporary freeway closures for helicopter landings. An additional helicopter was sent later to meet one of the ambulances at a local hospital for ongoing transportation. San Bernardino County Fire has reported that the freeway has since been reopened for regular traffic.
