87-year-old woman charged in motorcyclist’s death
MASURY, Ohio (WKBN) -- An 87-year-old woman is facing a charge of vehicular manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash earlier this month. Elspeth McKeag, 87, is facing a second-degree misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter. Court records show the charge was filed by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on Monday. On the evening of March 8, McKeag attempted to turn left onto Addison Avenue, crossing the westbound lanes of state Route 82, when a motorcycle hit the side of her car, states a release from OSHP. The driver of the motorcycle, David A. Rice, 62, died at the scene. A passenger on the bike was taken to the hospital for treatment, and authorities have not updated her condition. McKeag was charged as a result of an investigation by OSHP. She is set to be arraigned in Trumbull County Eastern District Court the morning of April 7.
