82-year-old man dies in farming accident in rural Mankato
An 82-year-old man in rural Mankato was tragically killed after being accidentally run over by his own tractor in his yard on Monday. The incident occurred on 570th Avenue in Lime Township, with authorities from the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office responding around 2:02 p.m. The man, identified as Gerald Orville Fredricks, was fatally injured by the tractor after apparently unintentionally starting it while standing near a rear tire. The tractor only stopped when it collided with a UTV parked in front of it. Despite attempts by first responders to save his life, Fredricks did not survive.
