8 killed in Kansas highway crash, including students, coach, and school employee from Oklahoma
A tragic accident involving two vehicles that occurred on a rural two-lane highway in eastern Kansas resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, including two high school students, a former teacher-coach, and a school employee from Oklahoma, according to authorities. The collision, which led to a fiery crash, happened on U.S. 169 near Greeley, about 60 miles southwest of Kansas City, Missouri. Among the victims were individuals connected with Tulsa Public Schools, including students from Booker T. Washington High School and Union High School Freshman Academy. The community is mourning the loss of these individuals, including the "special" student-athlete DJ Laster, who was described as a friendly and hard-working individual by his teacher. Tulsa Public Schools and Union Public Schools have mobilized support services for those affected by the tragedy. As investigations into the accident continue, the incident has once again highlighted the devastating impact of road accidents, following a recent crash near Yellowstone National Park that claimed multiple lives.
