75-year-old bicyclist identified as victim of fatal crash near Edmond intersection
The Edmond Police Department has identified a bicyclist who tragically lost his life in a collision with a driver on Tuesday morning near a busy intersection. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. close to Broadway and Covell. Initial findings indicate that the bicyclist was in the crosswalk crossing Covell when a car attempting to turn southbound struck him. The bicyclist, identified as Charles Rempel, a 75-year-old resident of Edmond, was pronounced dead at the scene. Despite wearing reflective gear, Rempel could not avoid the collision. The driver involved stayed at the scene, is cooperating with authorities, and will not face charges.
