7 West Palm Beach cops turn themselves in after deadly 2024 collision
According to an exclusive statement provided to WPTV news, the Fraternal Order of Police in West Palm Beach has confirmed that seven officers from the West Palm Beach Police Department were arrested on Wednesday evening. This arrest follows a tragic incident in Boynton Beach less than a year ago, where Marcia Pochette, 57, and her pregnant daughter, Jenice Woods, 27, lost their lives in a crash. The incident involved Neoni Copeland, who was 23 years old at the time and allegedly crashed into the victims while fleeing from West Palm Beach police on July 30, 2024. The Fraternal Order of Police in West Palm Beach has expressed their support for the arrested officers, emphasizing their right to due process and appealing to the public to allow the legal system to handle the situation fairly. The officers had been placed on leave of absence since August during the investigation of the crash, and their identities have not been disclosed. The Fraternal Order of Police in West Palm Beach acknowledged the challenging circumstances for all parties involved, extending condolences to the affected families, and reiterated their commitment to supporting their members through the legal proceedings with a serious understanding of the impact of the events. The officers are scheduled to appear in court for the first time at 10 a.m. on June 5.
