69-year-old woman killed in head-on crash with stolen car in Jessup

A tragic incident occurred in Jessup on Friday afternoon where a woman lost her life following a collision caused by juveniles driving a stolen vehicle. The incident involved a stolen 2017 Hyundai Sonata that was speeding on Guilford Ave, ultimately leading to a four-vehicle crash. The Sonata collided with a Tesla Model Y, a Honda Fit, and a Honda Civic, resulting in the fleeing of four juveniles from the scene. Unfortunately, one of the juveniles sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital. Sadly, the driver of the Honda Civic, identified as 69-year-old Bonnie Fuller Griffith, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The police are currently investigating the incident, with three juveniles still at large. This incident adds to the growing concerns about juvenile crime in Howard County, where recent violent incidents have occurred, including shootings near the Mall in Columbia. The rise in homicides, from five in 2023 to nine in 2024, further highlights the urgency of addressing juvenile crime in the region.
