64-year-old pedestrian dies in McHenry collision
A 64-year-old man was fatally hit by a vehicle on Thursday evening in McHenry, as reported by local authorities. The incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Jan. 15 at the intersection of Elm Street (IL Route 120) and Meadow. Police shared that the man was walking south across Elm Street, just east of Meadow Lane when a red 2008 Ford Focus heading east struck him. Another vehicle traveling in the same direction on Elm Street managed to stop to avoid hitting the pedestrian, but the Ford Focus could not avoid the collision. Unfortunately, the pedestrian, who was not using the crosswalk, succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital by McHenry emergency responders. The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld until notifying the family, and authorities confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not involved in the accident. No citations have been issued thus far, and individuals with any relevant details about the case are encouraged to reach out to McHenry police via phone at (815) 363-2599 or the tip line at (815) 363-2124.
