
5 police officers shot in Pennsylvania while reportedly executing warrant, officials say
Five police officers were shot in York County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday afternoon while serving a warrant, according to sources who spoke to NBC News. Three officers from the Northern York Regional Police Department are in critical condition, and another is in grave condition. A York County sheriff's deputy was also injured. The sources reported that the suspected shooter is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Eyewitness Dave Miller described hearing around 30 gunshots as he encountered the scene while driving home. Emergency calls began at 2:10 p.m., with Pennsylvania State Police leading the investigation. WellSpan York Hospital is treating two individuals related to the incident, both in serious condition. Security measures were enhanced at the hospital. State officials, including Governor Josh Shapiro, advised residents to cooperate with law enforcement and offered prayers for those involved. The Spring Grove Area School District shelter-in-place order, issued due to the shooting, was lifted before 5 p.m.
