46-year-old man and pre-teen killed in Caroline County collision

In Caroline County, Virginia, a tragic accident on Sunday resulted in the death of a 46-year-old man from Fairfax County and a pre-teen in a two-vehicle collision. The incident took place on eastbound Dawn Boulevard, approximately 700 feet east of Winston Loop. According to authorities, a 2013 Chrysler van crossed the center line and collided with a 2015 Mack truck traveling in the opposite direction. The van then veered off the road, crashing into a tree. Alberto Samperio, 46, from Annandale area of Fairfax County, who was the driver, and an unidentified pre-teen in the front passenger seat of the van, lost their lives at the scene. Two other juveniles in the back of the van were airlifted for medical treatment, all occupants were wearing seatbelts during the crash. The driver of the truck was unharmed. The accident is under investigation by the Virginia State Police Division I Crash Reconstruction Team.
