4 soldiers presumed dead in Army helicopter crash during training in Washington state
SEATTLE - Tragedy struck as four members of an elite team within the U.S. Army lost their lives in a helicopter crash near a military base in Washington state earlier this week. The MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, part of a routine training mission conducted by the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Airborne, crashed during the night mission west of Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Recovery efforts are ongoing, and the cause of the crash is being investigated by Army officials. The identities of the soldiers will be released at an appropriate time, out of respect for their families. The incident has deeply affected top Army officials, with Lt. Gen. Jonathan Braga expressing condolences and highlighting the soldiers' unwavering commitment to their duty. Emergency services and base personnel are collaborating to manage the aftermath of the crash, with efforts underway to control a small wildfire ignited by the incident. This marks the second lethal incident involving this specialized unit, following a similar crash in 2023 in the Eastern Mediterranean.
