According to officials, numerous students and staff members in South Florida were taken to hospitals on Thursday after an incident at a high school resulted in exposure to pepper spray. The Palm Beach County Fire Rescue reported that 32 individuals were transported for medical evaluation following a fight and the deployment of pepper spray at Lake Worth Community High School in Lake Worth Beach, located approximately 40 miles north of Fort Lauderdale. An additional 10 to 12 students were assessed and later picked up by their families. The school's principal characterized the event as a conflict among multiple students, with school police and administrators intervening to calm the situation, including the use of pepper spray, which caused injuries to several individuals. The principal confirmed that the school was secure and classes resumed as normal.
