3 rescued in two separate accidents, Fincastle volunteer fire crews say

The Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department said three people were rescued after two separate accidents. Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department volunteers responded to two separate single-vehicle accidents, requiring technical rescue operations at both incidents, according to firefighters. Firefighters said the first incident occurred in the 900 block of Botetourt Road, where a pickup truck left the roadway and came to rest approximately 50 feet down a steep embankment. Firefighters quickly established access to the person and utilized a rope rescue system to safely remove the person from the embankment. Due to the challenging terrain and limited access, a heavy-duty rotator was required to recover the vehicle, firefighters said.
