3 Qatar citizens die in accident en route to hostage deal event
Egypt reported over the weekend that a tragic car accident involving a Qatari delegation occurred in the Sinai Peninsula, resulting in the death of at least three diplomats. The accident was caused by a burst tire which led to a loss of control of the vehicle. The Qatari Embassy confirmed the incident and is coordinating the transfer of the bodies to Doha. The diplomats were traveling from Cairo to Sharm el-Sheikh when the accident happened, about 31 miles from the city. Both Egyptian and Qatari authorities are working together to handle the situation and retrieve the bodies.
