CHICAGO — Six people were involved, three of them critically injured, in a three-vehicle crash early Sunday morning after a speeding car ran a red light on the city's North Side, according to Chicago police. Police say the crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of West Addison Street, in the North Center neighborhood, when a black Honda sedan going east and speeding ran a red light and hit a white Toyota SUV that was facing south on North Western Avenue. The crash caused the Toyota SUV to flip over and hit a light pole, according to police. Meanwhile, the Honda sedan had lost control and hit another car, a black Toyota sedan that was facing north on N. Western Ave. According to police, three people in the Honda sedan that caused the crash were taken to area hospitals in critical condition — the 21-year-old male driver with head injuries, a 22-year-old male passenger with head and arm injuries, and an unidentified adult female passenger with head and internal body injuries. Additionally, police say the 57-year-old man driving the Toyota SUV was taken to an area hospital in fair condition with cuts to his head and chest bruises, and a 37-year-old man riding in that car was also taken to an area hospital in fair condition with cuts to his head. The 47-year-old woman driving the Toyota sedan was taken to an area hospital in good condition for evaluation, according to police. Police say no other injuries were reported, and citations are pending.
