3 killed, more injured after driver crashes into crowd in California

OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — Three people are dead and five injured after a driver drove into pedestrians and other cars in Oakland, California, on Saturday. Shortly after 11 p.m., Oakland police said they were called to the scene at 85th and International Streets. Video from the scene, obtained by Nexstar's KRON, showed the aftermath of the deadly crash. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene. Three people were taken to the hospital; two were listed as being in critical condition while the other had serious injuries. Two people had minor injuries. The driver involved in the crash was also injured, though officials described those injuries as minor. They allegedly tried to flee the scene but were stopped and detained by civilians, authorities said. A large police and fire presence remained at the scene on Sunday. Authorities did not immediately release additional details about what led to the crash, and the driver’s identity was not made public. The crash remains under investigation, officials said.
