3 injured, 1 fatally, in crash in northeast Allen County
One individual has passed away and two others are in critical condition following a three-car collision in Leo-Cedarville, located in northeast Allen County. The road was temporarily closed for three hours by authorities, but has since reopened. The Allen County Sheriff's Department was alerted to a rear-end accident on State Road 1, just north of Union Chapel Road, at approximately 3:46 p.m. on Saturday. Emergency responders found three northbound vehicles involved in the crash: a silver Hyundai SUV, a silver Chevrolet SUV, and a black Kia SUV. The Sheriff's Department reported that the black SUV and silver Chevrolet SUV were stopped in traffic when the silver Hyundai SUV collided with the rear of the silver Chevrolet SUV, leading to a chain reaction. Tragically, the male driver of the silver Chevrolet SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while a female passenger from that vehicle and a juvenile passenger from the silver Hyundai SUV were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Although the road closure initially lasted for three hours, it is now accessible to the public. The incident is currently being investigated.
