3 fatalities in I-80 wrong-way collision, according to CHP.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a tragic accident occurred on westbound Interstate 80 in Fairfield, resulting in the loss of three lives. The crash caused the closure of the roadway east of Cordelia Weigh Station for approximately five hours early Sunday morning. The initial collision involved a white Dodge Charger and a black Land Rover, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. It is not yet confirmed which vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction, but eyewitnesses reported seeing a light-colored sedan going against traffic. A second collision between a black Tesla Model Y and a red Toyota Tacoma occurred, causing minor injuries to the Toyota's driver. The involvement of alcohol or drugs in the first crash remains uncertain, but impairment was ruled out in the second collision. Investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
