3 dead after plane crashes in White County
WHITE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) -- First responders have been called out to the scene of a deadly plane crash in White County Saturday, officials said. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, which is helping the National Transportation Safety Board investigate the incident, a Mooney M20TN with three people on board crashed around noon on Saturday, April 26. Dean Selby, the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport director, confirmed to News 2 that three people died as a result of the crash, which happened about a mile south of the airport. The White County Firefighters Association posted about the incident on Facebook shortly after 12:15 p.m., saying emergency crews from across the county were on the ground in the Almyra Road area due to the crash. The North End Volunteer Fire Department announced just before 1:30 p.m. that it was one of the agencies helping at the scene. Community members are encouraged to avoid the area of Almyra Road and Howell Cemetery Road until further notice. As of 4:50 p.m., the FAA is on site and the NTSB is en route, according to Selby. No additional details have been released about the plane crash.
