25-year-old man killed in wrong-way crash on Riverside County freeway

A 25-year-old man was killed in a wrong-way crash involving a big-rig on the 91 Freeway in Corona. On April 19, California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a Ford F-150 truck driving the wrong way on the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway just after 5:30 a.m. As the driver passed the Serfas Club Drive exit, he crashed head-on into a white Volvo tractor. The impact sent auto debris flying into a nearby Mercedes-Benz, CHP said. The Ford driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was only identified as a 25-year-old Lake Elsinore resident. The Volvo big-rig driver, a 20-year-old Moreno Valley resident, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The Mercedes driver was uninjured. CHP is investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the deadly crash. No further details on the incident were released. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information on the case is encouraged to call CHP’s Accident Investigation Unit at 951-324-7210.
