23-year-old man from Bluefield dies in motorcycle crash in Mercer County

In Bluefield, West Virginia, a tragic accident occurred in the Brushfork/Bluefield area of Mercer County. According to the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, the incident took place at the intersection of Labrador Drive and US Route 52 on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 6:22 PM. 20-year-old Joseph Scott, a resident of Bluefield, was riding his motorcycle southbound on US Route 52 when it collided with a pickup truck entering the intersection from Labrador Drive to head northbound on Route 52. Scott sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Bluefield Regional Hospital, where unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries following the crash. The driver of the pickup truck cooperated with authorities on the scene and was found not to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
