21-year-old facing charges of drunk driving causing death in Knoxville

A Knoxville resident was arrested for vehicular homicide following a car accident on Western Avenue, as reported by the Knoxville Police Department. The incident occurred at the intersection of Western Avenue and Keith Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Police discovered that Kevin Zaragoza, 21, was driving at a high speed when he collided with a Nissan Altima. Regrettably, the passenger of the Altima, a 78-year-old woman, passed away at the scene, while the driver, a 58-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. Zaragoza, who was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, received medical treatment before being taken into custody. The authorities mentioned that witnesses noted Zaragoza speeding prior to the accident and he faces multiple charges. The investigation is being handled by KPD crash reconstruction personnel. This tragedy occurred shortly after another fatal crash in Knoxville on Saturday, where a female driver was charged with vehicular homicide due to intoxication.
