20-year-old from Utah charged with DUI following deadly West Valley City collision

A man from Utah has been arrested and charged after a serious collision in West Valley City that resulted in a fatality. Osvaldo Chavez Segovia, 20, was taken into custody after a crash involving multiple vehicles on Bacchus Highway near 5250 South. The incident led to three individuals being hospitalized and one person losing their life at the scene. The West Valley City Police Department arrived at the site of the accident involving three vehicles and interacted with Segovia, who initially claimed to have been a passerby who witnessed the collision. However, upon further investigation and obtaining a written statement purportedly under the name Alexi Z. Cruz, it was discovered that Segovia provided false information. Additionally, a vehicle involved in the crash was reported stolen, leading to further complexities in the case. Segovia now faces various charges, including failure to stay at the scene of an accident resulting in death, having a measurable alcohol concentration as a minor, obstructing justice, providing false information on an accident report, and driving without a valid license.
