20-year-old driver dies after collision with Mack truck in Minden
MINDEN, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A crash killed a driver and injured three passengers on Monday morning in Minden, according to the Louisiana State Police. LSP Troop G responded to a two-vehicle crash on Fire Tower Road near Louisiana Highway 160. Police say Tristan Young of Haynesville was driving a 1995 Toyota Tercel south on Fire Tower Road, approaching the intersection of Highway 160. Simultaneously, a 2019 Mack Pinnacle was traveling west on Hwy 160, also approaching the intersection. For reasons LSP investigators are still trying to determine, the Toyota entered the intersection and collided with the Mack truck. Young was unrestrained and died at the scene. An unrestrained passenger in the front seat was ejected from the vehicle and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries described by police as "severe". Another unrestrained passenger sustained moderate injuries and was also brought to the hospital for treatment. LSP said they do not suspect impairment as a cause for the crash; routine toxicology samples were collected from Young and will be submitted. The crash remains under investigation.
