2-year-old dies in crash, man charged with intoxication manslaughter
AUSTIN (KXAN) — A two-year-old died after a crash Sunday night in south Austin. According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded around 9:54 p.m. Sunday to the 2700 block of S. Lamar Blvd., near Menchaca Road, for a two-vehicle crash involving a pickup truck and SUV. It shut down the road for multiple hours overnight. Officers reopened Lamar just before 3 a.m. Monday. The driver of the pickup truck was identified as 30-year-old Keegan Shirley. He was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter. Police say the two-year-old died at the hospital. She was identified as Abbi Sofia Romero Aular and was one of two passengers in the SUV. The other passenger of the SUV was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Shirley was also charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury.
