RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A man is in custody after a serious motor vehicle crash Saturday evening in Raleigh. According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers were called to the crash around 7:20 p.m. at the intersection of Capital Boulevard and Highwoods Boulevard. An alert from the North Carolina Department of Transportation said 1 northbound lane and 3 southbound lanes were closed because of the crash. Officers said a red pickup truck T-boned a silver SUV, striking the front driver's side of the vehicle. They said the SUV was attempting to turn onto Capital Boulevard when it was hit, officers told CBS 17. Two women were injured in the silver SUV and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to police, one woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and the other had life-threatening injuries. Officers said the driver of the pick-up truck was arrested at the scene. Court records showed that Chancellor Van Oden, 37 of California, was arrested by police and charged with the following: According to the arresting document, officers said Van Oden was impaired at the time of the crash and "provided a fake name and fictitious California ID." Police also said in the court documents that one woman injured sustained head trauma, broken bones and was listed in critical condition at the hospital. A blood test was done by Raleigh police on Van Oden, confirming that he was under the influence of an impaired, according to court records, at the time of the crash. CBS 17 was at the scene well after the crash, where most lanes were closed on Capital Boulevard, causing massive congestion throughout Saturday night on the already-busy road. NCDOT said Capital Boulevard was closed overnight until 3:44 a.m. Sunday morning. Van Oden remains in custody and is scheduled for court Monday afternoon at the Wake County Justice Center.
