2-vehicle crash leaves 1 dead, 3 others injured in Noblesville

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- Noblesville police responded to a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead and three others injured Wednesday night. Officers with the Noblesville Police Department were called around 8:36 p.m. to the area of 146th Street and Promise Road after receiving reports of a serious crash involving two vehicles. NPD said preliminary information indicates a 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup truck was traveling westbound on 146th Street when it reportedly crossed over the center of the road before curbing the median and winding up in the eastbound lanes. It then collided with a 2018 GMC Acadia that was traveling eastbound at the time. NPD said the driver of the Chevy Silverado, identified by police as 38-year-old Nicholas McKnight, was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency medical personnel. No other occupants were inside the Chevy Silverado when the crash occurred. All three occupants of the GMC Acadia were transported to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, NPD said. The east and westbound lanes of 146th Street were shut down for several hours as NPD's Crash Reconstruction Team collected evidence. The exact cause of the fatal crash remains under investigation.
