2 injured after fiery semi crash on I-40 in Mt. Juliet

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Interstate 40 is partially closed Sunday morning due to a fiery crash in Mt. Juliet. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the incident occurred just before 5:30 a.m. near mile marker 223. Both sides of the interstate experienced closures throughout the morning. As of 9:30 a.m., the two left eastbound lanes were closed, as well as the left shoulder. The westbound lanes were fully reopened. The Mt. Juliet Police Department said a tractor-trailer caught fire after striking the median wall, leaving two people with minor injuries. MJPD said significant delays will continue, and has urged drivers to use alternate routes such as Central Pike or Lebanon Road. The Tennessee Highway Patrol will handle the investigation.
