
2 hurt, 1 arrested in car crashes following attempted traffic stop in Transylvania Co.
In Transylvania County, North Carolina, a traffic stop attempt led to a pursuit and several car crashes on Friday morning. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol tried to pull over a speeding tractor-trailer on N.C. Highway 280, but the driver refused to stop and led troopers on a chase. The pursuit went onto U.S. Highway 64, where the tractor-trailer deliberately collided with two patrol cars. The driver continued until his vehicle was disabled after hitting an empty Sheriff's Office patrol car. The crashes resulted in injuries to one trooper and one deputy. The driver, Andrew Heath Gamble of Longview, Texas, was arrested for multiple charges including driving while impaired and assault with a deadly weapon. Gamble is being held on a $300,000 bond at the Transylvania County Detention Center.
