2 dead after motorcycle crash on Indy’s north side
INDIANAPOLIS -- Two people are dead after a motorcycle reportedly ran into an SUV on the city's north side. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of 75th Street and Keystone Avenue at approximately 9:22 p.m. on report of a crash. Police said the collision was between a motorcycle and a small SUV. Witnesses told police the motorcycle was driving at a high rate of speed when it slammed into the SUV, which was attempting to turn. Police said there were no skid marks, indicating the motorcycle may not have hit its brakes. An adult male was driving the motorcycle with an adult female as a passenger. Both were thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. Police said two people were in the SUV. Neither suffered significant injuries. Investigators determined the SUV had been heading southbound on Keystone, with a green light, and had been turning onto 75th Street when the motorcycle slammed into the SUV near the passenger door. A witness at a nearby Walmart reportedly spotted the motorcycle driving down Keystone "at an extremely high rate of speed," according to police. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who lives in the area and has a surveillance camera, to contact IMPD Officer Kevin Winks at (317) 327-6549. The Marion County Coroner will release the identities of the deceased at a later date, pending family notification.
