2 arrested in connection to fatal shooting that led to crash, injuring 3 in Denver
DENVER (KDVR) — Two suspects were arrested Thursday in connection with a deadly shooting that resulted in a single-vehicle crash that injured three other occupants of the vehicle. The Denver Police Department said it arrested Ashley Stone, 38, and David Bland, 39, for investigation of first-degree murder. The shooting allegedly occurred near the intersection of East 38th Avenue and North Odessa Street at about 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Denver police said that when officers first responded, they found a single-vehicle rollover crash. First responders found that the adult male driver was deceased and three occupants, which included a woman and two children, were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash. Later, police found the man had apparent gunshot wounds. The agency said that investigators learned information that led to the identification of Stone and Bland, and said that preliminary information shows the victims and suspects were known to each other. The Denver Police Department said that there was an altercation reported on the afternoon of April 16 between Stone and the woman injured in the crash. Shortly after the reported altercation, the suspects began following the victims by car, according to police. The suspects then fired into the victims' vehicle, and the man crashed the vehicle after being shot. The man's identity will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner and final charges will be determined by the Denver District Attorney's Office.
