2 adults dead, 7 children hurt in ATV crash at Alabama park

Two adults lost their lives and seven children were hurt in an incident at an off-road vehicle park in Alabama, according to authorities. The accident occurred at Indian Mountain ATV Park in Piedmont, where a side-by-side RZR carrying nine individuals collided with another ATV, causing it to overturn and hit a tree. Unfortunately, neither the driver nor the passengers were wearing safety harnesses. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. It seems the ATV was being driven at a high speed, leading to the collision. The Cherokee County Sheriff's office is awaiting toxicology results to determine if alcohol was a contributing factor. The injured were taken to trauma centers in Birmingham and Rome for treatment. It is emphasized by officials that it's not recommended to carry a large number of passengers, especially young children, in a side-by-side without using safety restraints. Everyone is advised to take personal responsibility for their safety and that of others while riding off-road vehicles. The victims range in age from 1 to 12 and are from Georgia. The authorities are actively investigating the incident.
