19-year-old charged after fatal crash in West Milwaukee police chase
A man is facing criminal charges following a police pursuit in West Milwaukee that resulted in a fatal crash on Jan. 4, 2026. Johnatan Prado, 19, has been accused of fleeing from police and crashing the vehicle, resulting in severe injuries to himself and the death of 18-year-old Izack Zavala, who was also in the car. Prado has been charged with 2nd-degree reckless homicide and fleeing from an officer resulting in death. A police officer witnessed a black Honda Civic running a red light, initiating the chase. The Civic eventually crashed, leading to Zavala's death and injuries to Prado. The Civic was registered to Prado's mother. Prado's initial court appearance was postponed due to his condition following the crash.
