A tragic accident occurred in Yuba County on Saturday, resulting in the loss of a 14-year-old boy's life, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The teenager, identified as Emirt Rivera Barrera of Olivehurst by the Yuba County Sheriff's Office, was involved in a crash on northbound Highway 70 near the Feather River Boulevard exit. The crash involved a Honda Pilot that overturned off the freeway and came to rest approximately 50 feet down a dirt embankment. Barrera, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was found unresponsive by emergency responders. Despite life-saving efforts, he unfortunately did not survive his injuries. Two other occupants in the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. According to CHP, the crash was caused by another vehicle's unsafe lane change, which led to the Honda's loss of control. The investigation is ongoing, and it is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
