1 person killed, 1 person injured in Brooklyn Park car collision

Authorities reported that a man from Minneapolis passed away following a car crash that resulted in a fire on Saturday morning in a suburb north of the Twin Cities. The incident occurred at approximately 7:21 a.m. at the junction of Highway 252 and Humboldt Avenue, as per the Brooklyn Park Police Department. The Minnesota State Patrol issued a crash report stating that a 33-year-old individual was operating a 2017 Chevy Impala heading north on Highway 252 when they collided with the signal post at the junction with Humboldt Avenue. Subsequently, the vehicle caught fire. Passersby halted to assist the two people in the car to exit. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, while the passenger, identified as 36-year-old Carlos Chavez Holliday, died at the scene, reported the Minnesota State Patrol. A section of Highway 252 was shut down for a few hours after the incident.
