
1 killed in fiery crash involving motorhome in Algoma Twp
ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Rockford man was killed in an early Saturday morning fiery crash in Algoma Township. Around 12:45 a.m., deputies with the Kent County Sheriff's Office were sent to the area of 10 Mile Road NE and the Belmont Bypass for a head-on crash involving a motorhome. Responding deputies found a motorhome and a sedan engulfed in flames. The sheriff's office said bystanders quickly worked to pull one of the drivers from the vehicle before it caught fire. The driver of the sedan, 25-year-old Karsen Soulia of Rockford, died at the scene, the sheriff's office said. The driver of the motorhome, a 42-year-old Rockford man, had minor injuries. "Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this tragic incident. We thank the bystanders who selflessly stepped in to help at a dangerous scene. Their actions do not go unnoticed," the sheriff's office said in a release. The crash remains under investigation.
