1 killed in boat crash on Smith Lake

Video above: Watch Wednesday's forecastOne person was killed in a boating accident on Lewis Smith Lake Wednesday morning, according to the Cullman County coroner.Details are limited, but the Cullman County Emergency Management Agency told WVTM 13 it received unconfirmed reports that several boats were possibly involved, resulting in injuries.The accident happened around Berr's Island close to the Miller's Bottom area.Major League Fishing (MLF) confirms that the crash involved Flint Davis of Leesburg, Georgia, who was competing in Day 2 of the Tackle Warehouse Invitational.MLF issued the following statement, "Out of respect for those involved, and to ensure the accuracy of all information, no further details will be released at this time. MLF is working closely with law enforcement and emergency officials. Additional updates will be provided as they are confirmed by the appropriate authorities."Our thoughts, prayers and deepest concern are with everyone affected by this tragic incident."Several fire departments, the Cullman County EMA, Cullman County Sheriff's Office, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Patrol Division are on scene.The name of the person killed and circumstances of the crash have not been released.
