1 killed, 6 hurt in St. Clair County accident with tractor-trailer

A tragic incident occurred in Kimball Township, Michigan, on Saturday night when a car collided with a trailer being pulled by a tractor, resulting in the death of one woman and injuries to six others. The accident, which took place on Smiths Creek Road near Burns Road just before 7:30 p.m., involved a 79-year-old man driving the tractor with a trailer carrying five individuals. The trailer was struck from behind by a Buick Regal driven by a 44-year-old man. Tragically, an 85-year-old woman from Kimball Township who was on the trailer passed away at the hospital, while a 77-year-old woman from Kimball Township sustained serious injuries, and three others - a 67-year-old woman from St. Clair Shores, a 62-year-old woman, and a 54-year-old man from Kimball Township - sustained minor injuries. The tractor driver was in critical condition at the hospital, and the driver of the Buick was treated for minor injuries. It was noted that the tractor may have been lacking proper rear lights or a slow-moving vehicle emblem at the time of the collision. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
