1 killed, 2 injured after driver crashes into pole in Pacoima

One person was killed and two others were injured after a vehicle crashed into a pole in Pacoima Friday night. Police responded to the intersection of Paxton Street and San Fernando Road around 8:20 p.m. A 30-year-old man was found with fatal injuries and pronounced dead at the scene. A 27-year-old man was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a local trauma center in critical condition and a 39-year-old woman was found with minor injuries. Sky5 footage from the scene showed the vehicle was totaled in the collision, trapping the occupants inside. A second sedan nearby also appeared to be involved in the crash and sustained heavy front-end damage, though the circumstances surrounding the impact remain unclear. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The busy intersection was cordoned off by police tape as authorities worked to clear the scene. The identity of the person killed was not released.  This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
