1 killed, 1 injured in head-on crash near Big Arm
One person was killed and another was injured in a head-on crash involving an SUV and a semitruck Sunday morning near Big Arm, according to the Polson Rural Fire District. Emergency crews were dispatched at about 6 a.m. to the crash near Walking Horse Lane on U.S. Highway 93. When firefighters arrived, they found an SUV and a fuel-hauling semitruck with a pup trailer that had collided head-on. Officials said the fuel tanker was empty at the time of the crash. The semitruck driver was able to get out of the vehicle without assistance and was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital. Firefighters extricated the SUV driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. U.S. Highway 93 was closed for about four hours while authorities investigated the crash and crews cleared the scene. The cause of the crash has not been released. The Polson Rural Fire District expressed its condolences to the family members of those involved.
