
1 fatality in Cook County I-80 accident causes significant delays, according to police
A fatal accident involving three vehicles occurred on Interstate 80 in southern Cook County, resulting in one fatality and one person being hospitalized. The crash caused significant traffic delays on Monday afternoon. Illinois State Police reported that emergency responders arrived at the scene on I-80 eastbound lanes near Torrence Avenue around 4:30 p.m. The investigation revealed that a stationary car was rear-ended, causing a chain reaction involving a second car and a semi-truck. The driver of the second car died, and the driver of the first car sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Traffic was moving slowly on the far right lane, with no definite timeline for when all lanes would reopen.
