1 fatality, 1 person wounded in Clearwater Publix construction incident
A tragic accident occurred at the construction site of a new Clearwater Publix, resulting in the death of a worker after a scissor lift collapsed. Another worker was injured in the incident. Authorities from Clearwater police and Clearwater Fire and Rescue promptly responded to the scene on Monday evening. The incident took place at 1295 S. Missouri Ave., and it is believed that the two men were hurt when the lift collapsed. The injured individuals were rushed to local hospitals on trauma alerts. Regrettably, one of the workers passed away at Morton Plant Hospital within an hour of arriving, while the other worker was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Out of respect for their loved ones, the identities of the individuals involved have not been disclosed at this time. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been informed about the incident.
