1 fatality, 1 in 'very critical condition' following suspected medical emergency causing collision.
A fatal accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near Linwood and Broadway boulevards, resulting in one person's death and another being hospitalized. According to the Kansas City Police Department, a Dodge Journey traveling south on Broadway experienced a possible medical emergency, causing the driver to accelerate through the intersection. The vehicle veered off the road, hitting an unoccupied car, a steel light pole, a veterans memorial, and ultimately crashing into the side of the VFW building. Both occupants of the Dodge sustained life-threatening injuries and were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Tragically, the passenger, identified as an adult woman, passed away Wednesday evening. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the incident.
